Khosla Ka Ghosla

Khosla Ka Ghosla Director:  Dibakar Banerjee Writer:  Jaideep Sahni Stars:  Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, Parvin Dabas,Ranvir Shorey,Tara Sharma,Vinay Pathak Khosla Ka Ghosla, comes as another pleasant and welcome delivery from the Dibakar Banerjee . The name of the movie might indicate that we have a hardcore comedy flick at our hands, which might just have some funny, complicated and golmaal script, good enough to keep the audience gaping all through, rather than questioning the sensibility of the movie. But Khosla Ka Ghosla is not anything of that sort. The audience gapes, but this time to appreciate the content of the movie, apart from its comic feature. The movie depicts the story of a very middle-class family, with a very orthodox patriarch, played by Anupam Kher (Khosla). Khoslaji’s sons, as one might imagine, are not at all like the father, they are some different entities, wanting to move on with their own lives, when possible. One son is through...

Socha Na Tha

Socha Na Tha Director:  Imtiaz Ali Writer:  Imtiaz Ali Stars:   Abhay Deol, Ayesha Takia, Ayesha Jhulka Socha Na Tha (2005) is the debut movie of the director Imtiaz Ali and Abhay Deol. This charming movie is just like a gust of fresh air where love is innocent, the lovers are having hearts of gold and even their family members are no stereotyped villains. Troubles are there, confusions are there, indecisiveness is there, misunderstandings and consequential quarrels are there but the most important thing is that everything is realistic and everybody is human. And to err is human, we all know. That’s the quality which makes this movie a winner. Socha Na Tha (not thought of) is the love story of a confused young boy Viren (Abhay Deol) and an orphan girl fostered by her uncles and aunts – Aditi (Ayesha Taakia). Their parents / guardians want them to get married with each other but they have other plans. On one hand, Aditi likes someone else (Shaayan Munsh...

Jab We Met

Jab We Met Director:  Imtiaz Ali Writer:  Imtiaz Ali Stars:   Shahid Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Tarun Arora Aditya Kashyap (Shahid Kapoor) is the most despondent person that one can encounter – a millionaire with a tumultuous life. Hailing from a broken family and after his father’s death, he is running a failing business and the icing – he has just been jilted by the “love of hislife”. Geet (Kareena Kapoor), ‘Bhatinda’s Sikhani’ is the curious, playful and annoyingly upbeat and chatty chick. She is returning home to Bhatinda, after her doing her degree in Mumbai, to a very large, loving and protective Punjabi family. The two meet on an unexpectedly when a hopeless Adi is on a train, heading nowhere. Geet’s fiery and cheery persona at first annoys Adi to the point of insanity but when he looks much closer he sees that there is a lot to be learnt from Geet. In her nosy yet helpful manner, Geet, stupidly misses her train back to Bhatinda. The blame goes to A...
